KNIGHT AREA on
Unfortunately I came too late and can't say anything about the band OCEAN MACHINE which opened for KNIGHT AREA.
However - the five musicians from the Netherlands around keyboarder Gerben Klazinga made a good job this evening in Bielefeld. Besides some new songs they played most of their material from the two recent albums which have got excellent reviews so far.
I wasn't familiar with the band before. Deriving from the neo prog/symphonic genre they have found their own unique style and are acting homogeniously with a melodic compact sound. The performance was given with high concentration, technically top-notch, headed by singer/frontman Mark Smit with his Roland AX-1 keytar. The songs mostly require full attention - they are less designed for shouting or singing along and not often adapted for animating the audience though.
All in all it was a convincing gig - not only for me I'm sure. KNIGHT AREA is a good recommendation!
